Calais, Maine – September 3, 2024 - Dr. Reza Namin, Superintendent of Maine Indian Education, proudly announced that Lynn Amakehs Mitchell, Maine Indian Education Facilities Manager, has been selected as the recipient of the prestigious 2024 National Indian Education Association (NIEA) Community Service of the Year Award. This national recognition highlights Ms. Mitchell's outstanding contributions to Native education and her dedication to serving the community.
The award will be presented during the NIEA Awards Luncheon on Thursday, October 10, 2024, in Palm Springs, California. Ms. Mitchell will be honored with a special presentation and will have the opportunity to address the attendees with a short video message.
